Im from Airdrie,North Lanarkshire just east of Glasgow,and im aware that around about Harthill the accent becomes more East central Scots and by the time u get to Whitburn and Bathgate its quite diffirent from the general accent here in the West central area.It just amazeses me how accent or dialect can change in such a short distance,ok not everyone speaks the same even in the same street but theres a pretty marked diffirence between an Airdrie and Bathgate accent anyone any ideas why Harthill/Whitburn is where it changes i think it might be due to Glasgow being the big centre of the west and Edinburgh being the big centre of the east so sorounding towns and villages will speak with the accent of the closest big city(anyone any other ideas__agree/disagree with me???
